Strange to watch football. I have the tv on mute, and it was around 3.30am, and the neighbourhood is very quiet, people tend to be hushed, but I heard a roar, not big, but like a electric brushing instrument passing by outside, and saw it coincided with a goal by the japanese team. A while later another.
I have never liked football. I played it among 200 or so people in junior school, that usually just meant running after some vague signal (a crowd rushing towards somewhere), sometimes instead of playing football, you can get in a fight without meaning with people you may not see again, like a gene wolfe novel. And then: well there is football going on in the world. I prefer the japanese football people because they look like quite charming, for the most part, pop stars, and not criminals like the england team. It is not because they are all shaven headed, or have "strangeways haircuts", as Mark E Smith said (minutes5 seconds 9 for strangeways comment), but they scowl and spit and spit roast the girls fooled to have an interest in, not them but their monies, countless unearned big monies. I imagine, even if you liked football, was a football genius, once the millionaire status is given, the aspiration (to be further a better footballer) ebbs somewhat.
I need to sleep. I hope the score remains the same. Maybe I won't be able to sleep. Because of football.
