The malale computron machine is now hereby designated "bouncy jesus". The attentive among you will understand. But probably the last moments before death are the most lucid.
films recently seen on the TV:
billy elliot
something about teenage girls sharing a magical pair of jeans
a film about "atlanta university" wherein a large sort of band marches before, during, or after I am not sure, some sort of sport event. The focus is on the "drum line". It is like karate kid, or "save the last dance", except it went easy on the dramatic narrative ups and downs, no sudden disasters. That, I used to explain to myself, is why I liked "akira". No character-as-bait (for you the fish as audience) (But akira is good because of the cathedral music accompanying the expanding atomic orb expanse that re-invents the structures of neo-tokyo)
I will speak about the other two films at a later time point, they share the same dumbness. Wouldn't normally be watching these things, but an hour and half of english is somehow at times a comfort. (I had to edit out most of the dance scenes from billy elliot, although the "marc bolan" soundtrack pleased mio, so some of those scenes remained, as trauma)
I also saw "anaconda 2". 50% better than the first one? Something like that.

i recently watched a movie that baffled me as to how it got made, it was that bad.
ReplyDeletescriptwise for example, i don't understand how anyone could have read it and said 'yup that's good to go'. but some how nobody involved noticed that they were missing a script.
how does that happen?
lots of money wasted that could have fed some homeless people.
mr malale have you heard of plans for live action akira remake? silly hollywood...
making movies is more a balancing of current funds vs potential profits. scripts and all else are incidental.
ReplyDeleteThe dvd market seems to bring profit to terrible films, the people who buy dvds every week: box sets of JCvandamme are not unheard of.
Because everything like that is a posession which creates a boon-like pillow solidity in the trembling wierd and mortal life.
akira, and also evangelion, I heard. money to be had see?
tarantino is remaking "good will hunting", in spanish, with "anime idents"
