川口 雅巳

kawaguchi masami 川口 雅巳 one time bassist of haino keiji's Aihiyo (hyper glisten orb) is the leader of two bands we have seen in recent months, New Rock Syndicate and Broomdusters.

They are both pretty much the sound. One has more free bass, the other more psych feeling. While very enjoyable to see now and then, there is a sense of playing it safe (in the context of the small psychnoise type scene: ie, they are not being the corrs or beatles-re-re-vivalists) Over 4 months or so the set remains the same. They play loud and at times the top of your head can absent itself which is good, Kawaguchi has habits possibly learnt from his time with haino keiji: a quick wipe over the amp settings for "volume-up", and signalling with a shout a period of free music all the band participate in (e.g. this song of broomdusters)

I suppose I am a bit disappointed that a fushitsusha type monolith band is looking like a once every 3 decade occurrence. Not many people want to go into uncertainty. Searching, said Robin Blaser about some early american poetics, the search creates the form for as long as the search continues.
