Before web slots, flying cars, and frozen heads, there was the teletext. All that is known about it is: that it appeared in the early 70s; it is great and british; it has a good game information section.
And it is now available on the inter slots, like some sort of imploded human!
double-u, double-u, double-u dot, teletext.co.uk
The letter section (of the game bit) is refreshed twice a day, and contains some good debate and a few jokes now and then. It helps me retain interest in video computer television games, which I must admit ebbs often now I am getting old and frightened about important things like the future and the liver and kidneys.
Other teletext sections of note:
- the local news to see if your friends have died yet
- the music section to stay hip, but their indie-focus can be terribly annoying
- that's about it. Those with interest can go to wikipedia and learn more about:
teletext, the vertical blanking interval, the days of digitiser
Thanks for briefly listening.
